Professional development is an integral component of the Data for Student
Success project. The professional development follows two different but related
directions. Since the MEAP data for each school, district and ISD has been
graphed online for this project, we first developed a number of resources to
support the MEAP data analysis process including animated tutorials for reading
the online graphs and worksheets to guide teams through the process and to
capture the critical findings to inform school improvement goals.
The second direction we took was to create a curriculum for using data to
improve student achievement. The curriculum consists of four workshops that move
school teams through the process of analyzing state assessment data to the
collection and analysis of school and classroom data to inform instructional
decision-making. The curriculum also includes sample agendas, handouts, and
PowerPoint presentations.
All professional development materials online are considered “draft
documents” and will be modified as we field-test them this year.
